Our Quilting Approach

At Erika’s Quilty Pleasures, every quilt tells a story. Whether you’re completing a treasured heirloom or finishing an everyday favorite, we offer quilting services tailored to your vision, timeline, and budget. Using our longarm machine, we provide both edge-to-edge longarm quilting and fully custom quilting—each offering its own unique benefits. Quilting services are priced at 2¢ per square inch. Please note that backing, batting, and binding are not included in this pricing.

Edge-to-Edge Longarm Quilting

Edge-to-edge (E2E) quilting features a single, continuous design stitched across the entire quilt top. This style creates a cohesive, uniform look while allowing the quilt piecing and fabrics to shine.

Because the pattern is repeated over the whole surface, edge-to-edge quilting is a more efficient process and typically requires fewer hours to complete. This makes it a popular and cost-effective option for everyday quilts, gifts, and projects that need a quicker turnaround. Designs range from simple to decorative and can be selected to complement your quilt without overpowering it.

Custom Quilting

Custom quilting is a more personalized approach that treats each quilt as a one-of-a-kind piece. Instead of repeating a single pattern, custom quilting uses a combination of motifs, borders, and detailed stitching tailored to specific areas of the quilt.

This method allows individual blocks, appliqué, or borders to be highlighted with intricate designs and dense texture. Because of the planning and hands-on time involved, custom quilting requires significantly more time and is best suited for heirloom quilts, show quilts, or projects meant to be truly special. The result is a highly textured, detailed finish that adds depth and artistry to the quilt.

Choosing the Right Option

Both edge-to-edge and custom quilting are completed on a longarm machine, but they differ in complexity, time, and overall investment. Edge-to-edge quilting offers a beautiful, functional finish with quicker turnaround and lower cost, while custom quilting provides a detailed, artistic touch designed to elevate your quilt into a standout piece.

Not sure which option is right for your project? We are happy to walk you through the differences and help you choose the quilting style that best fits your quilt and your goals.
